Pencil in Friday 3rd September for another On2 workshop with Laucinda AND Gareth at York Dance Space (after this date Gareth will be unable to teach much due to other commitments for a number of months so get in & book your training with him to avoid disappointment)!
…………………………………………………………………………………………….
Pencil in Friday 17th September for On1 timing Salsa essentials training with Laucinda of Encuentro Latino, to include body movement, styling, technique and footwork for all.
Note: The delivery of On1 turn pattern classes may be considered by Encuentro Latino on occasional Fridays at York Dance Space as backup if Paul & Rosi from Humba Rumba have not yet started up the weekly On1 partner work turn pattern classes at Revolution. Revolution have an enormous backlog of bookings to get through and may not be able to have Salsa back for a number of months yet. However, Paul & Rosi are in negotiations with Las Iguanas to look at running weekly On1 classes & social dancing there from September so it is looking like the On1 turn pattern classes will be delivered in this way🙂
Keep dancing guys and thanks for your continued support of our classes 🙏😘

Whatever happens, let’s keeeep dancing!!!! 💃🕺😀

Reasons to keep dancing:

Dancing leads to improved balance, coordination, proprioception and overall neuromuscular health, wellbeing and fitness levels. We also need to be aware of staying as fit & healthy as we can in order to combat covid.

Did you know that a recent study showed that partner dancing such as Ballroom & Salsa prevents the development of dementia by 76%!!

By continuing to dance past the age of 50, regular dance activity reduces the occurrence of a number of chronic conditions including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, hypertension, obesity, osteoporosis and depression.

So we all know how much fun we can have in classes & clubs but the residual benefits are pretty huge!
For anyone who isn’t aware, Paul & Rosi from Humba Rumba have taken over the management of Revolution & Las Iguanas helping Laucinda to take a back seat from the late-night Salsa events and parties in order for to develop more daytime classes in ballet and ballroom for the over 50s and to work in the education sector as well.  Please feel free to send enquiries through any of us though as we are working like one big Salsa family.
Laucinda (& occasionally Gareth) will still be offering specialist Salsa workshops  once or twice per month from July at York Dance Space to include: On2 style aka New York Mambo workshop, Pachanga, Cha Cha, Bachata and Reggaeton, Merengue, Samba No Pe’, leader / follower styling, shines, technique, Afro-Latin Body Movement, spinning, performance, choreography and more!

Plus for details of her ‘Gently Ballroom’ class and further development in other areas, please see the bottom of this page!

Covid risk mitigation protocols may still be in place (we continue to follow the government guidelines), the details of which are emailed out to every student. Plus both Encuentro Latino and York Dance Space have covid risk assessments available to view should you require. There can be no dance partner swapping in partner work classes until the 19th July at the earliest but things are constantly changing .Thanks for your continued support of Encuentro Latino.

Covid safety – Once we fully open up, dancers dance at their own risk.  There will be sanitiser available for regular use and if anyone still wants to wear a face-covering then we fully support that.  Please do not attend classes if you are experiencing any symptoms such as dry cough, loss of taste and smell, raised temperature, headache, runny nose, sore throat etc.  If you do have symptoms please get a negative LFT or better still a PCR test before coming to class.

Thanks for your continued support of Encuentro Latino and our friends at Humba Rumba, LET’S DANCE PEEPS! 🥳💃🕺👯‍♀️👯‍♂️
